April is a passionate yogi and a Holistic Family Nurse Practitioner, with a love for bringing yoga and meditation not only to her patients, but also into the community.
April’s yoga journey began here in Minneapolis in 2007, and ultimately led her to teacher trainings in New York City and Rishikesh, India. While living in New York she had the pleasure of learning from many internationally renowned teachers, but it was while studying in Rishikesh that she was truly transformed through complete immersion into the teachings and living an authentic yogi life.
April earned her masters degree from NYU as a Family Nurse Practitioner with a holistic specialty. Her holistic specialty is rooted in the scientific study of various complementary and alternative modalities, with her areas of focus being movement, meditation, and energy. She has training in Hatha, Vinyasa, restorative, and tantric yoga, as well as extensive study in meditation including vedic, loving kindness, Vipassana, and mindfulness styles. She is certified as a level 2 Reiki practitioner and enjoys incorporating this energy work into her classes.
April has a personal practice of Ashtanga yoga that is reflected in her teaching style by finding beauty in dedication and discipline. She encourages her students to be fully present in their practice by moving attention inward; teaching sequences that utilize asana to find space within the body, pranayama to find space between breath, and meditation to find space between thought.
