Acupuncture
Originating in China over 3,500 years ago, acupuncture has recently gained popularity in the US as people seek more holistic healthcare. The focus of an acupuncture treatment is to restore the balance of Qi in the body. Any illness or disease can be defined as the imbalance of this energy or Qi. The insertion of hair-thin, sterile needles along specific points on the body helps to balance the flow of Qi and return the body to a healthy state. When the points are stimulated, the flow of Qi through pathways of energy (meridians) is facilitated, thereby initiating your body's return to balance. Though you may be seeking treatment to help relieve such imbalances as pain, digestive upset, or infertility, during your visit, you will also receive the added benefit of a deeply relaxed state that is unique to receiving acupuncture. Chinese Herbal Medicine
Chinese herbs are often used to complement acupuncture treatments. In our practice we custom make formulas to specifically address the issues of each patient. The use of a Chinese herbal formula can sustain the effects of an acupuncture treatment in between visits, and is a great way to supplement one's path toward wellness.
Women's Health
Women of all ages can benefit from acupuncture. For young women beginning to menstruate, acupuncture can ease PMS, cramps and mood swings. Acupuncture and Chinese herbs can help treat other symptoms associated with PMS such as headaches, dizziness and irritability. Endometriosis and fibroids are also commonly treated with acupuncture and herbs. For pregnant women, acupuncture and Chinese herbs are a gentle, prescription-free option for treating many issues during pregnancy including morning sickness, abdominal pain, constipation and post-partum depression. Much help can be found by treating infertility issues with acupuncture. Acupuncture and Chinese herbs can also help during the wondrous but sometimes uncomfortable transition of menopause. Treatment can relieve the discomfort of hot flashes, night sweats and insomnia.
