For so many years I felt great. Then, after the birth of my first two kids I suffered immense back pain for no obvious reason. After back surgery for a herniated disc, I received a diagnosis of degenerative disc disease. I avoided running and exercise since most movement caused me pain. Then I discovered YOGA! What a wonderfully paced, challenging yet gentle method of caring for and getting to know oneÕs body! After practicing for several months my pain diminished and I felt stronger and happier. As my personal yoga practice grew, I noticed that some key elements of yoga; Balance, Flexibility and Patience were all very well applied to everyday life. The spiritual path of yoga reveals just that: it is all connected so beautifully!
I received my certification through the yoga study program at the Yoga Center of Minneapolis. I also studied under Lisa Bergly, Kriya Yoga specialist, to earn certification in Yoga Bonding, mother-baby integrated yoga. I have had the pleasure of working with and learning so much from preschoolers, grade school kids, and athletic teenage boys, as well as adult students who have extreme anxiety about reaching for their toes!
My goal as an instructor is to empower students to open the door to yoga and start the journey of feeling healthy, understanding, and most of all loving their bodies.
My greatest joys are spending time with my three unique kids and sweet husband, traveling to remote places, hiking, and using creativity in the kitchen while Axel, (my dog) rests on my yoga mat.
