I began my formal study of astrology through Goswami Kriyananda’s courses at the Temple of Kriya Yoga, Chicago. I had completed the hatha yoga teacher training program and was continuing my education of kriya yoga when astrology was introduced. I remember having this “aha” experience. It was as if the puzzle pieces that made up my life began falling into place.
To me, astrology is not just data. Although, at first, I went headlong down that road of material hoping that if I just memorized enough, I would know and understand. But, I realized that astrology is to be experienced – breath by breath, day into night, season after season.
The natal chart is a symbolic map of our karma. By learning and understanding the symbols and the cycles, we come to understand ourselves and others more objectively and more compassionately. This understanding enables us to neutralize and soften the less harmonious parts of our nature and accentuate and utilize the more favorable aspects.
